In this role you will be joining the Smart Grid BU and working with the Development and product teams to define and architect network management solutions for Smart Grid products. The individual must have a proven track record of implementing and deploying network management solutions for large scale network.
The individual must have hands-on development experience. Must have experience with device instrumentation and devise practical network management solutions for network hardware platforms. The candidate must be able to make system level design decisions and trade-off. Must have broad knowledge of network management applications and protocols which spans beyond the use of SNMP/MIBs.
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop network management solutions for switches, routers and intelligent smart grid devices.
* Ability to implement and proto-type network management solutions being proposed in either C, C++, JAVA, Python.
• Evaluate practical solution of day one deployment strategy as well as on-going management of devices in wireless/WAN/LAN environment.

We have a current opening for a Media Backend Software Engineer in the TelePresence Technology Group (TTG) within our Emerging Technologies Business Group (ETBG).
TelePresence is a virtual presence experience that uses advanced visual, audio, and interactive technologies to create an in person experience at a virtual conference table. TelePresence is one of the more recent examples of how Cisco is changing the way we work, live, play and learn. Join our high energy team involved in testing several next generation TelePresence products.
Responsibilities:
You will be developing and sustaining Media Backend software:
-Back end library (BEL)
-Device driver's for HDMI, DVI, FPGA, I2C, etc
-Wireless Interfaces such as Bluetooth
-HD Camera software infrastructure
-HDTV Display control and infrastructure
-Interfacing with peripherals such Laptop's, Doc Camera's projector's, HDMI switches, Power Control devices, etc.
Enhancement of product quality through extensive unit/regression test scripts.
Current and next generation Codecs and Peripherals
Consumer TelePresence Codecs and Peripherals
Requirements:
-Proficient in C/C++ Programming
-10 years of experience in real time systems
-Embedded Software Development and Microprocessor based Hardware
-Familiarity with Linux
-Scripting language 'python' (or some other high-level scripting language)

Cisco - R884436 - Systems Software Engineer (TTG) - San Jose, CA
The successful candidate will join the TelePresence Technology Group (TTG) with Cisco’s Emerging Technologies Business Group. The TTG, is chartered with creating products and solutions for immersive video communications. The Systems Software Engineer will develop embedded software for our current and next generation TelePresence products. This position offers the interested candidate exposure to a wide range of network, video and audio technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Create and document software specifications and designs from product requirements.
- Develop Linux device drivers for a number of devices including video, audio, networking, graphics and storage.
- Customize Linux kernel/OS/distribution and port to hardware platforms.
- Develop Linux, system boot and upgrade scripts.
- Tune Linux kernel, boot scripts and device drivers for performance.
- Develop and port open source packages that extend the Linux OS and provide applications with a variety of system services.
- Define and develop system software enhancements to improve reliability and security of the product.
- Modify network stack/protocols to support new product features/functionality.
- Integrate Linux OS into build system and enhance build system to support software developers.
Requirements:
- Strong C programming skills, (C++ desirable).
- Strong skills in Bash or similar scripting languages.
- Understanding of Linux kernel internals.
- Proficient in Linux device driver development.
- Experience in Linux kernel porting and know-how in developing Linux distributions.
- Strong Software/Hardware integration and debug skills.
- Understanding of Linux and System Boot initialization scripting.
- Understanding of the following network protocols: DHCP, ARP, TFTP/FTP/SFTP, SSH, SCP, DNS, NTP, TCP/UDP/IP, HTTP, CDP, Ethernet
- Ability to work collaboratively with Software, Hardware and Manufacturing Engineers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in generating and documenting engineering specifications.
- Follows software engineering procedures and processes.
- MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7+ yrs related experience.
