Software/QA Engineer

Responsibilities:
The QA Engineer (WSA) will be a primary contributor to the test effort for IronPort’s newest security appliance, the IronPort S-Series Web Security Appliance. These high performance appliances provide the industry's most comprehensive perimeter defense against a broad range of spyware and web-based malware. The IronPort S-Series appliances combine a high-performance security platform with IronPort's exclusive Web Reputation technology and IronPort's breakthrough Dynamic Vectoring and Streaming engine (DVS), a new scanning technology that enables multi-vendor signature-based spyware filtering.
The QA Engineer will work with Engineering and Product Management to review product requirements and engineering specifications and will write and execute test plans and test cases based on these documents.
•Create and review test cases and test plans based on functional specifications and marketing requirements documents
•Execute test cases and test plans using internal test tool or manual (command line) execution as needed.
•Identify, isolate and document software defects, either independently or with QA/Development peers
•Analysis and diagnosis of issues found in the field.
•Provide status and escalate issues to Manager/Team Lead as needed
Required Experience and Skills:
•Must Have Server-Side, UNIX Based, Network Product QA Experience
•Minimum of 4 years experience in QA
•Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking
•Strong knowledge of HTTP & HTTP proxy and caching technology
•Knowledge of Routing, DNS, SMTP, FTP, SSH and Telnet
•General knowledge of network security issues
•White/Grey box testing
•Strong command of some UNIX variant
•Experience testing server applications
•Proven track record of developing test plans and test cases from engineering specifications and product marketing documents
•Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Must utilize these skills to communicate effectively across all groups in the organization.
Desired Experience and Skills:
•FreeBSD
•Python
•General programming or scripting experience
•Domain knowledge of web-based Malware and/or Spyware
