IT Manager

IronPort® Systems, Inc. is an independent business unit of Cisco Systems. IronPort product lines utilize SenderBase®, the world’s largest threat detection database, enabling powerful security measures that are easy to deploy and manage.

Primary Responsibilities:

This position is for the Manager of Operations Systems Engineering (OSE). As the OSE team manager you are responsible for directing all IronPort Security Application projects that require operations systems engineering involvement. This includes developing the associated system architecture; Development, QA and Staging environments; deployment strategy and the engineering of the supporting infrastructure.

•Demonstrate strong project management skills and drive results within your team.
•Oversee all Security Application projects that require Ops Systems Engineering support, essentially acting as the program manager for the OSE team. Assign and track projects, review project scope, negotiate schedules, plan resources, and manage risk.
•Act as a subject matter expert in planning, implementing and integrating tools, solutions and/or Security Application products in to the IronPort production infrastructure.
•Recommend new tool technologies and lead the development of new tool standards and processes based on industry standards and best practices.
•Responsibilities include staffing, resource planning and employee development.
•Own the strategy, goals and plans for the OSE team's success.
•Maintain and drive your team's alignment with company and departmental/FG strategy and goals.
•Improve the consumers (Sec Apps/QA) experiences by understanding and focusing on what's important, measuring how we are doing and driving the necessary actions to improve.
•Promote speed, quality and shared vision by getting the right people involved in decisions.
•Identify trade-offs between short and long term solutions; balance the needs of IronPort's stakeholders.
•Excellent follow-through. Ensure your direct reports are accountable for and effectively executing day-to-day (tactical) and strategic responsibilities.
•Reward and recognizes high performance. Take appropriate corrective action when needed.
•Continuously assess and improve processes within your scope, including the impact on upstream and downstream groups. Additionally recommend improvements in processes you and your team interact with.
•Energize and enroll others in pursuit of stretching, break-through goals.
•Demonstrate an entrepreneurial perspective (envisioning new and innovative ideas and approaches and taking them to fruition).

Required Experience and Skills:

•5+ years of experience in a data center & operations environment
•5+ years of experience in the planning and integration of IT infrastructure and process
•3+ years of experience managing a team of engineers/system administrators
•Previous experience as a UNIX System Administrator
•Strong knowledge of UNIX, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP
•Project management experience
•Strong written and verbal communications skill set

Desired Experience and Skills:

•Experience with shell scripting and languages such as Perl or python
•Programming/Software development experience is a plus
•Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts a plus
