Software Engineer
Responsibilities:
Participate in the development of Cisco Security Manager Product suite for managing end-to-end network security on all Cisco devices including Routers, Switches and Security Appliances (PIX, ASA, IPS, etc). The team provides excellent opportunity for our engineers to master not only the basic networking skills but also in-depth network security technologies such as VPN, Firewall, IPS, and self defending network.
Cisco Security Manager is a critical glue to help tying the components of Cisco Self-Defending Network together. It enables customers to build, enforce and monitor security policies effectively through its easy to use graphical user interface and various views (device view, policy view and topology view). Members of the team will have ample opportunities to interact with our customers to learn how large enterprises and service providers deploy network security solutions. Knowledge from our customer's day-to-day operations will be utilized to transform our product to meet customer's operational challenges such as scalability, usability, virtualization, and high availability.
The product provides an exciting opportunity to work on a world class J2EE application for managing network security, to leverage the latest Web and database technologies (Java, Ajax, Swing, XML, Castor, JSP, Servlet, Apache, Tomcat, JDBC, Hibernate), to use state of the art development tools (Subversion, Eclipse, XMLspy, OptimizeIt, JTest), and to learn state of the art networking/security/software technologies all in the same job.
In this role, you will be part of a highly driven, talented and diverse engineering team. Your responsibility will include:
-Contribute to subsystem architecture design and write functional specifications.
-Write and provide input to design specifications.
-Participate in lab setup for networking and security devices.
-Develop code in Java, Swing, XML or JSP and perform unit and integration test.
-Work with the devt test team to identify and resolve problems found.
-Participate in working with customers on field trials prior to the release.
-Support our customers in resolving product issues.
Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience
