Hardware/Test Engineer

Responsibilities:

    Cisco seeks a Hardware Engineer with specialized knowledge in select technologies. Ability to widely apply networking and telecom principles, theories and field concepts to product development and possession of working knowledge of related disciplines.

    In addition to HW Eng III, requires hands on experience with one or more of the following:

    Hands-on experience with design and/or testing of GE, FC, CWDM, DWDM, SONET, SDH, PDH optical and electrical interfaces. Solid knowledge of IEEE GE, FC ANSI, ITU G.707, G.783, GR-253, is essential.

    Solid experience to characterize/qualify optical, electrical interface and components. Work closely with development engineers to define specifications and resolve issues.
    Solid foundations of theory and test techniques of clock recovery, jitter/wander. expertise on electrical interfaces T3/E3, T1/E1, ISDN, analog line, PBX interfaces.

    Understand related product architecture. Understand competitive products. Ability to apply new technology independently. Ability to design multiple subsystem architecture. Ability to plan small projects. Ability to solve complex. problems involving multiple sub systems. Experience with design of LAN/WAN interfaces and digital systems. Experience performing board level digital logic design with emphasis on FPGA designs and simulation for design verification of ASICs. Works under department strategy and direction. Translates department goals into own work assignments. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Interfaces cross-functionally at the working team level. Customer resolution requires excellent communication skills. Sponsors and models exemplary team interaction.     Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 3-4 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 4-7+ yrs related experience.
