Sr. Software Engineer
Responsibilities:
You will be part of a highly driven, talented software development team and be responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of system software in the areas of security and VPNs. Responsibilities will include:
- write and provide input for functional and design specifications
- develop code in C for platform independent modules
- collaborate and coordinate with Hardware teams
Responsible for technical content of designs and code walkthroughs, you will be viewed as a technical resource by peers in the same organization. You will interface with other Development teams, Marketing, Support and customers to understand deployment scenarios and design products. You will work closely with TAC and DevTest in recreating and resolving customer reported problems. Exceptional problem solving and debugging methods are necessary, as well as superior bug fixing and testing skills.
You will use acquired professional knowledge to determine method for problem resolution, and exercise judgment within defined standards of the industry. Ability to apply theory to product development and to deliver on project wide commitments is a must. Standard awareness should include IETF and IEEE. You will be responsible to initiate and consult on original and creative technical efforts.
Successful candidates should have a desire to learn and produce results in a highly demanding environment with complex new technologies. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with other teams are mandatory. Exemplary teamwork as well as the ability to self start and work under little supervision is key.
Education:
Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience.
Skills Required:
Strong experience in software design, real-time embedded system development, distributed systems and protocol related development, as well as excellent hands-on knowledge of C is required. Familiarity with advanced architecture principles and design practices is a must. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols (TCP/IP protocol suite, ARP, multicast etc), cryptography/security (IPsec, SSL/TLS, certificates), algorithms, highly scalable data structures. Experience on router or switch platform is a plus. The candidate should also have some exposure to one or more of the following: High Availability, AAA, QoS, MPLS, L2TP, MobileIP, SNMP, GRE, tunneling. IOS coding a plus not required.
