Product Manager

IronPort® Systems, Inc. is an independent business unit of Cisco Systems. Operating as a part of Cisco’s Security Technology Group, IronPort is a leading provider of anti-spam, anti-virus and anti-spyware appliances for organizations ranging from small businesses to the Global 2000. IronPort product lines utilize SenderBase®, the world’s largest threat detection database, enabling powerful security measures that are easy to deploy and manage.

Responsibilities:

Product Managers are customer focused, working to ensure that the products IronPort builds will exceed customer expectations and be successful in the marketplace. Great Product Managers love interacting with customers and are comfortable communicating both business benefits as well as technical details, they have the ability to clearly articulate complex and abstract ideas to the development team, and they possess the presence and leadership to make a top-notch sales force successful. IronPort Product Managers thrive on the responsibility, accountability, and challenge of ownership while having the flexibility to try new things. Broad skills will be needed to plan out the long-term vision to win in the market as well as be able to execute on the day-to-day decisions to successfully deliver.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Develop requirements and plan roadmaps through direct customer interaction, market research, competitive analysis, and by working with the sales force.
•Communicate and refine those requirements with development team, and successfully guide product design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
•Prepare and execute on go-to-market plans, including pricing, sales training, and marketing.
•Support sales and marketing efforts as required. Some travel required.
•Generate content for outbound marketing material - i.e. copy for brochures, whitepapers, etc.

Required Experience and Skills:

•BA/BS (business, marketing, or engineering preferred), MBA or equivalent a plus.
•3 - 10 years experience in leading efforts in a related field such as product marketing, sales, or engineering.
•Driven, with an entrepreneurial spirit and sense of urgency. Must be resourceful, proactive and aggressive.
•Highly organized, detail-oriented and possessing a high level of integrity.
•Team player that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments.
•Exceptional written and oral communication skills required.
•Natural leadership skills and the ability to work with all teams in the company.
•Familiarity with Internet technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, etc) a plus.
•Prior experience in networking security a plus.
