Senior Software Engineer
IronPort® Systems, Inc. is an independent business unit of Cisco Systems. Operating as a part of Cisco’s Security Technology Group, IronPort is a leading provider of anti-spam, anti-virus and anti-spyware appliances for organizations ranging from small businesses to the Global 2000. IronPort product lines utilize SenderBase®, the world’s largest threat detection database, enabling powerful security measures that are easy to deploy and manage.
Responsibilities:
The Release Engineer will work to improve, automate, and simplify the build and release process across the IronPort product line. These include products shipped on our Mail Gateway Appliances (MGAs) to run on AsyncOS as well as services deployed on servers that are part of our Information Services (IS) group. The IS group is responsible for delivering SenderBase, Virus Outbreak Filters, BondedSender, SpamCop, along with a number of internal technologies that power the effectiveness of our MGAs.
Required Experience and Skills:
•4+ years software development experience.
•3+ years in a Unix environment.
•2+ years of Makefile and shell script development experience.
•Unix system administration experience.
•Strong background with source code control systems, including Perforce.
•Design of test, staging, and production environments for server based apps.
•Documenting implementations through specs, manuals, and procedures.
•Past participation in shipping releases on an aggressive schedule.
•Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact with all members of the development team.
Desirable Experience
•Python, Perl, Java, and C.
•Knowledge of make and ant.
•Proven track record of taking responsibility for shipping/deploying clean, well-documented releases.
•Experience with the development and deployment of automated testing.
•Dedication to making life easier for the development organization being served.
